
Dawson expanded and renovated the Sitkans Against Family Violence shelter, a two-story domestic violence shelter in Sitka, growing it from 5,500 to 6,800 square feet. The work reconfigured the living spaces to better serve clients, added a separate public entrance and dedicated office space for SAFV staff and volunteers, and brought code and aesthetic upgrades along with new mechanical, electrical, and fire suppression systems. Working from a hard-bid contract on a constrained site with limited staging, Dawson used value engineering to bring the project within the available budget.
