Dawson replaced and modernized the 67,970 square foot Nooksack Valley Middle School through a carefully phased approach that kept students and faculty in the building throughout construction. That's no small feat. It required constant coordination between Dawson's crews, school administrators, and the community to minimize disruption while maintaining a safe learning environment.
Phase I started with relocating portables and the pavilion, followed by demolitions and hazardous material abatement. Phase II brought the new two-story addition to life along with renovated gym and science rooms, new utilities, and adjacent site improvements. Phase III completed the transformation with abatement and demolition of the old school and final site work in its place.
The Nooksack Valley School District got a completely modernized 68,000 square foot middle school built on their existing campus without missing a single day of school. The new two-story addition, renovated gym and science rooms, and upgraded site transformed what had been an aging facility into a modern learning environment. The three-phase approach proved that even a full school replacement can happen on an occupied campus when the planning, communication, and execution are right.
