Dawson Construction completed the new Biosolids Dryer Facility at the Mendenhall Valley Wastewater Treatment Plant (MWWTP) for the City and Borough of Juneau. This critical infrastructure project modernized biosolids processing capabilities with a 9,000 square foot pre-engineered metal building (PEMB) designed to house advanced thermal drying equipment, plus 4,000 square feet of remodeled space within the existing plant. Dawson self-performed the demolition of the old building and managed the complex construction of the new facility while maintaining direct integration with the existing wastewater treatment operations throughout the project.
The biosolids dryer facility dramatically reduced the volume and weight of biosolids requiring disposal, cutting hauling costs and landfill impact for the City and Borough of Juneau. The 9,000 square foot facility and 4,000 square feet of remodeled space house a modern thermal drying system that produces a Class A biosolids product suitable for beneficial reuse. Direct integration with plant controls means operators manage the new facility alongside existing systems without additional complexity, and the self-performed demolition of the old building was completed without any interruption to 24/7 treatment operations.
From emergency repairs to ground-up builds, Dawson teams deliver across Southeast Alaska and Northwest Washington.
