Dawson Construction served as general contractor for the new Lighthouse Mission Base Camp facility in Bellingham's Old Town neighborhood. The five-story, 75,000 square foot building replaced the previous facility to provide expanded 24-hour homeless services and programming for the most vulnerable community members experiencing homelessness.
The facility includes specialized care spaces for families, seniors, and those requiring medical or mental health support, along with administrative offices and commercial and retail spaces along Holly Street.
Base Camp dramatically expanded Lighthouse Mission's capacity to serve Bellingham's homeless population. The five-story building provides 24-hour emergency shelter, dedicated family housing, recovery programming, case management offices, dining facilities, and support spaces, all under one roof.
The project represents one of Dawson's most meaningful community contributions in Whatcom County, delivering a facility that directly improves the lives of thousands of people experiencing homelessness each year. The building has been recognized as a model for compassionate, dignified shelter design in the Pacific Northwest.
