Dawson Construction completed the Harrigan Centennial Hall Renewal in Sitka, Alaska, as a joint venture with McG Constructors, Inc. The project transformed this important civic gathering space in the historic former capital of Russian Alaska, upgrading it to meet modern standards while preserving its role as a community landmark.
The renewal included the creation of a new museum space and visitor center to serve the thousands of cruise ship visitors who arrive in Sitka each summer, as well as updating the 4,000 square foot theater with contemporary audio-visual and stage technology. Designed by McCool Carlson Green, the upgrades equip the facility to host a wide range of events from community performances to conventions. New construction included exterior walls and roof, new windows and doors, interior partitions, and complete interior finish upgrades throughout the building.
Harrigan Centennial Hall emerged from the renewal as a modern civic facility that honors its history while serving Sitka's future. The new museum and visitor center welcome thousands of cruise ship visitors each summer, the upgraded theater hosts community performances with professional-grade technology, and the building's new envelope systems will protect the space for decades to come. For a town of roughly 8,500, the renewed hall is more than a building; it is the living room of the community, and the joint venture delivered it ready for its next chapter.
From emergency repairs to ground-up builds, Dawson teams deliver across Southeast Alaska and Northwest Washington.
