Dawson renovated the 42,530 square foot Douglas Island Building in Douglas, Alaska, home to the Alaska Department of Fish and Game and the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation. The two-story facility received full upgrades to its building systems, interior finishes, and accessibility features while both state agencies continued daily operations on-site throughout the construction period.

The Douglas Island Building now meets current seismic standards, presents a modern exterior with its new curtain wall and terra-cotta siding, and provides updated interiors for both departments. The renovation was completed without interrupting the daily work of either state agency. Regulatory reviews continued, field operations were coordinated, and public services were maintained throughout. For a building that houses two of Alaska's most critical environmental agencies, uninterrupted operations was not just a preference, it was a requirement.
