Dawson built the Eielson Visitor Center at Mile 66 of the Denali Park Road, the first federally funded National Park Service building to achieve LEED Platinum certification. Perched at 3,500 feet elevation with views of Denali, the facility combines interpretive exhibits, ranger programs, and visitor amenities in a structure designed to withstand subarctic conditions while leaving the smallest possible footprint on the surrounding wilderness.
The green roof blends with the surrounding tundra, the photovoltaic array offsets energy consumption, and the passive solar design reduces heating demands at Mile 66. The building serves more than 100,000 annual visitors while maintaining one of the smallest environmental footprints of any federal visitor center in the country. Sustainable construction works in even the most extreme environments, and Alaska's builders proved it here.
From emergency repairs to ground-up builds, Dawson teams deliver across Southeast Alaska and Northwest Washington.
