Dawson expanded Bellingham International Airport to three times its original size for the Port of Bellingham, combining 30,000 square feet of renovation with 80,000 square feet of new construction. The project added passenger capacity to meet rising flight demand while keeping the existing terminal fully operational throughout construction, a phasing challenge that required constant coordination with TSA, airlines, and airport operations.
Bellingham International Airport now operates at three times its original capacity, with expanded gates, modernized passenger amenities, and the infrastructure to handle the region's growing air travel demand. The entire expansion was completed without a single day of terminal closure, and passengers experienced minimal disruption throughout the multi-year construction period. That kind of phased, occupied construction, keeping the building running while you rebuild it around the people inside, is one of the hardest things to get right.
From emergency repairs to ground-up builds, Dawson teams deliver across Southeast Alaska and Northwest Washington.
