Dawson built a new visitor center in Angoon, one of Southeast Alaska's most remote Tlingit communities accessible only by air or water. The facility welcomes travelers with information about local culture, history, and outdoor recreation, serving as both a community gathering space and a gateway for visitors exploring Admiralty Island, home to the highest density of brown bears in North America. The building was designed to reflect Angoon's Tlingit heritage while meeting the practical needs of a remote construction site where all materials arrive by barge or float plane.
Angoon now has a welcoming visitor center that introduces travelers to the community's rich Tlingit heritage and the extraordinary natural environment of Admiralty Island. The facility doubles as a community gathering space, serving Angoon's residents as much as its visitors. For one of Southeast Alaska's most remote communities, having a purpose-built facility that shares their story with the world is a source of pride, and Dawson was honored to help build it.
From emergency repairs to ground-up builds, Dawson teams deliver across Southeast Alaska and Northwest Washington.
