New construction of an addition and renovations to existing buildings to reconfigure the bookstore and Viking Union and develop a new space for multicultural service programs. The site is located in the center of campus along the main access for transit and connected to the Viking Union, which remained operational throughout construction.
Scope included building a temporary bookstore, removing the existing bookstore concrete roof and mezzanine, new construction of a second story and connecting bridge to the Viking Union, and renovations to existing areas.
The facility brings the Ethnic Student Center, Associated Students advocacy centers, Multicultural Student Services, bookstore, multipurpose room, and campus radio station KUGS together under one interconnected roof. It has become the heart of multicultural programming on campus, architecture that physically connects diverse student services in the center of campus.
