Dawson built the new 68,000 square foot Sunnyland Elementary School for Bellingham School District, a two-story wood-framed campus designed to serve 450 pre-kindergarten through fifth grade students. The building houses classrooms, a music room, library, commons and cafeteria, gymnasium, administrative offices, kitchen, and mechanical spaces. The site includes a soccer field, outdoor play shed, and a fully separated drop-off and pick-up zone for parents, plus staff parking and public access.

The new campus replaces aging facilities with a modern, energy-efficient learning environment built for the way Bellingham teachers want to teach. From improved HVAC and lighting to new instructional technology and flexible classroom configurations, every element was designed to enhance the daily experience of education at Sunnyland while preserving the school's identity in the community.
