Block 6 is the first new building in Old Town Village, the redevelopment that is turning eight city blocks at the north end of Old Town from light industrial land into a neighborhood. It sits at 711 Astor Street, a few blocks from downtown Bellingham and the waterfront.
The six-story building holds 84 studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom apartments over ground-floor commercial space. Residents share a rooftop deck with a covered lounge and views of Bellingham Bay, common lounges and a dining room, a courtyard with seating, a secured parking garage with EV charging, and a pet wash station. A rooftop solar array was finished in December 2025.
Dawson built it for Capron, LLC, with TRC Architecture. Panelized wood framing let the crew set a new level about every eight days, and the framing was done in two months. Our crews self-performed the post-tensioned deck forming and shoring with zero quality or safety issues.
Block 6 was delivered six weeks ahead of an 18-month schedule, and at one point the job was running ten weeks ahead. Cabinets were bought out early, before the 2025 tariffs landed, so the owner paid no tariff on them. For Old Town, it means 84 new homes on land that sat underused for decades, and the first building people can point to and say the Old Town Village plan is real.
