Dawson built the 35,000 square foot Ketchikan Aquatic Center, attached to the Gateway Recreation Center, giving the community a year-round aquatic facility in one of Southeast Alaska's wettest climates. Construction included pre-cast concrete panel exterior walls with a steel roof structure, and installation of full mechanical systems for pool heating, water treatment, humidity control, and air quality management, the specialized systems that make an aquatic center function in a marine environment.
Ketchikan now has a year-round aquatic facility that serves the entire community, from competitive swim teams to families enjoying the recreation pool and water features, regardless of what's happening outside. The pre-cast and steel structure handles everything Southeast Alaska throws at it, and the mechanical systems deliver the precise environmental control that keeps a natatorium functioning in a marine climate. Technically demanding, built in a place where getting it wrong isn't an option, that is the job Dawson signed up for.
From emergency repairs to ground-up builds, Dawson teams deliver across Southeast Alaska and Northwest Washington.
