Andrew Hope Renovation

Dawson Construction completed the renovation of the Andrew Hope Building in downtown Juneau, Alaska, which serves as the headquarters of the Central Council of the Tlingit and Haida Indian Tribes of Alaska (CCTHITA). This culturally significant facility, located in the heart of scenic downtown Juneau, offers an 840-person conference hall, meeting rooms, and an event center that serves as a gathering place for Alaska Native communities across the state.

Dawson was contracted to replace the building's exterior siding and front entry canopy, giving the headquarters a contemporary upgrade while preserving the heritage and significance of the building. Sleek metal siding was selected to provide a modern aesthetic that reflects the forward-looking vision of CCTHITA while maintaining respect for the building's role in Native Alaskan governance and cultural life. Designed by Jensen Yorba Lott Inc., the renovation enhances the building's street presence in Juneau's busy downtown corridor.

The Andrew Hope Building is named in honor of a prominent Tlingit leader and serves as a vital institution for the largest tribal organization in Alaska, representing more than 35,000 Tlingit and Haida tribal citizens. The renovated building now presents a dignified, contemporary face on downtown Juneau's streetscape, with a new metal siding system that will protect the facility for decades and a redesigned entry canopy that creates a more inviting public threshold. The building continues to serve as a vital gathering place for Alaska Native communities, now with an exterior that matches the importance of the work happening inside.
