Alaska State Capitol Building Seismic Retrofit Phase II

DESCRIPTION: Exterior renovation of the State Capitol consisting of complete removal of the exterior building envelope, masonry, precast concrete, windows, doors and including the interior walls on the outside walls down to the existing concrete structure.  The concrete structure is then being upgraded for seismic integrity by adding concrete and reinforcing infills. The exterior building envelope is being completely replaced with new masonry, precast concrete and terra cotta finishes along with new windows and doors and upgraded insulation systems.  The renovation will restore the finishes and appearance to the original design features.  On the interior of the exterior walls insulation is added as well as new heating piping and elements with new framing and finishes to match the existing.

The project is being completed over a three year season schedule so that the work is performed while the legislature is out of session.
