Ketchikan Fire Station No 1

Government Project

Construction of Ketchikan’s new fire station includes 23,000 square feet spread out over two floors. The first floor features a four-bay apparatus floor, main building lobby, training room, turnout gear space, decontamination room, dispatch center, quartermaster and storage areas, medical supply storage, and dive team storage. The second floor houses a reception area, staff offices, exercise room, locker room with showers, eight bunkrooms, study/library, laundry room, kitchen, and day room. Each floor has a mechanical room and access to a service elevator.

A unique feature to this project is the use of fast-acting, bi-fold fire engine doors. Rather than using traditional overhead garage doors, which have a history of operational issues, the bi-fold doors are time efficient and provide an excellent weather seal.
